ARE YOU SOFT ENOUGH?

‘ARE YOU SOFT ENOUGH?’

Forget about being, tough, tenacious, extreme or any of those sort things a civilization built on dominance and conquest exhorts you to be.

As for the expressions, ‘steel your heart’ and ‘harden your resolve’, just don’t.

One of the fastest ways to soothe yourself is to practice what I call ‘Softening.’

This is a good time for me to explain why I believe Soothing is so important. In my experience, Soothing is the first step we take towards Healing and Growth in Consciousness. Enough Soothing sets up a situation that is Nurturing. Enough Nurturing rejuvenates all the mysterious things necessary to create the optimum conditions for Healing.

I no longer call myself a ‘Healer’ or even a ‘Kinesiologist’ or ‘Reiki Master’; those are simply some of the tools I use in my work. My work is all about providing Soothing, Nurturing and Rejuvenating. The Healing takes care of itself and, I believe, creates a powerful opportunity for growth in consciousness.

Softening is one of my favourite simple tools for Soothing because it’s something we can do for ourselves.

Here’s how you practice Softening:

Scan your body:

Notice anywhere you feel any discomfort or tension.

If there is just one tense or uncomfortable spot, put your attention on that spot and say one word to yourself,

 ‘Soften…’

Say it aloud or in your head, it doesn’t matter. That’s all you need to do.

Keep saying it until you feel some relief from the tension or discomfort.

If you’re tense in more than one area, put your attention on each area one at a time and say the word,

 ‘Soften…’

You may want to keep working with a particular area of tension until it is clear before moving on. However, if it’s not completely clear after repeating the word three or four times, move on to the next area of tension.

Often you will find that as you work through the areas of tension there is a knock-on effect and successive areas will have already eased by the time you get to them.

Keep cycling through the areas, using the command, ‘Soften…’ until you have the level of soothing you seek.

As is the case with many of these hacks, the more you do them the more powerful they get. You’ll get results more quickly. You’ll also literally experience the area softening. Eventually it is possible to catch discomfort early. Before it becomes tension in specific muscles, you will notice a sensation of hardening in abdomen. The command to soften will usually do just that, keeping you in a soothed state of well-being.

It’s really very simple.
